About Yuri Braga
Computer Engineer • Systems, Embedded, Automation & AI Product Development
I'm a computer engineer who specializes in systems, embedded, automation, and AI product development. I care about building things that ship: from real-time firmware and PCBs to production ML platforms.
I graduated early from Virginia Tech (3.5 years) with a 3.78 GPA, did three years of graduate-level robotics research (TREC and CMAR labs), and was elected President of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Ambassadors. My research and coursework span real-time systems, control systems, sensor integration, CAN communication, and electrical subsystem design — cross-disciplinary work that connects firmware, hardware, and autonomy.
As co-founder and software lead at CareFuse, I designed and deployed our production-level ML platform end-to-end: creating ML-ready datasets, training and validating models, deploying them, and iterating based on real healthcare user feedback. We achieved strong calibrated performance (AUC ≈ 0.93), SHAP explanations for transparency, and enabled a pilot with a major health insurer.
On the embedded side, I've designed PCBs in Altium, written embedded C firmware, implemented low-level drivers (I2C, CAN), and built automation platforms — including a motor controller validation system at Stanley Black & Decker that cut test time by roughly four hours and improved reliability.
I work with teams solving hard problems in automation, robotics, medtech, consumer products, and intelligent systems. If that sounds like your team, I'd love to connect.
Core Values
Patient safety over model vanity metrics
Explainability for shared decision-making
Calibration, propensity weighting, and CI reporting
Ship robustly: schemas, versioned models, reproducible APIs
What I'm Looking For
Roles where I can contribute to automation, robotics, medtech, consumer products, or intelligent systems — with teams that care about shipping, clarity, and impact. Open to conversations and opportunities.
