About Yuri Braga
Computer Engineer • Co-founder, CareFuse • ML for Patient-Safe Decisions
As a computer engineer raised by doctors, I have a profound passion for medicine and healthcare. My mission is to revolutionize patient care through the power of artificial intelligence and data-driven insights. Through my work with CareFuse, I leverage cutting-edge machine learning and explainable AI models to accurately predict surgical outcomes, particularly for orthopedic procedures such as Total Knee Arthroplasty. My goal is to enhance patient well-being, ensure safety, and advocate for conservative, patient-centered treatment paths whenever beneficial. Specifically, I aim to protect patients from invasive procedures unlikely to yield a meaningful clinical improvement (MCID). I firmly believe the null hypothesis for invasive surgeries should be that the procedure will not achieve MCID. Unless robust evidence suggests otherwise, surgery should be avoided to safeguard patients from unnecessary risks and potential harm. Ethical, transparent, and interpretable AI models not only streamline healthcare decisions but also empower patients and clinicians to make informed choices, ultimately prioritizing patient safety and well-being above all else.
Core Values
